Cast as a single unit block, many said the 90 degree V8 was an engineering impossibility. On only the ’32 models, the belt is adjusted by a single nut on the generator post mount, and the crankshaft is forged. Water enters the heads at the top center. The cylinder heads are held on with 21 studs. The new flathead features a single belt, two water pumps, a generator/fan combo, a Detroit Lubricator carburetor, and an aluminum intake manifold. The first production car comes off the line on March 9th, 1932. ↳ Willys Go Devil Engine Based GENERATOR SETS and COMPRESSORS(Includes Hobart Bros.1932 CID Schmaltz, Ray Lard, and Mil Zoerlein, working in secret, take one of Henry Ford’s ideas and turn it into a production item – the Ford flathead V8.↳ Jeeps used by: USMC, USN, USCG (-NO EBAY-CRAIGSLIST-COMMERCIAL SALES-).↳ Willys MB & Ford GPW, For Sale Section.G503, WWII Jeeps, Willys MA, Willys MB, Ford GP, Ford GPA, Ford GPW, Bantam BRC.Any information you’d be willing to offer would be appreciated. I’ll try to document it when I get there. Pending the completion of a couple other projects I would like to get it running. I figured I should post some pictures to share and learn. My web search led me here after seeing a series of posts by “dlevy”.

I really couldn’t find a tremendous amount of information about it, at least compared to the Fords I usually dabble in. To his knowledge it had never been run and simply sat as a static display in his bosses collection. The gentleman who maintained his collection told me that the owner purchased the engine as surplus, years before, from the Red River Ordnance Depot in Texarkana Tx. My understanding was that the wealthy owner had a small private collection/museum, though not really military oriented. I’m a ford flathead enthusiast and had been on the hunt for another one for a hot rod project when I came across this and fell down the rabbit hole. I recently picked up this flathead Cadillac at a local estate sale.
